You probably have most of the ingredients in your pantry already, as much of the flavor for this recipe comes from kitchen staples like honey and garlic. We’re using chicken breast and clean, lean ingredients to make sure you don’t end up splurging on calories just for one tasty meal. Perhaps best of all, this is ideal for meal prepping, as you can make portions and set them aside for later in the week. It’ll keep in the fridge for a few days - if you can wait that long to tuck in.

Ingredients for Honey Garlic Chicken Bites
To make these honey garlic chicken bites, you’ll need a few ingredients. Fortunately, they’re all very common, and you probably have pretty much everything here in your kitchen already.
- Chicken breast
- Corn flour
- Chicken stock
- Butter
- Olive oil
- Garlic
- Honey
- Lemon juice
- Fresh cilantro leaves
- Sriracha sauce or any hot sauce, optional
- Salt, pepper and chili flakes

Tips for the Perfect Honey Garlic Chicken Bites
- You can use any flour you like.
- You can always use maple syrup instead of honey for a Canadian twist on this delicious recipe. Maple syrup has a very different kind of sweetness to honey, and you may find out that you actually prefer its distinctive flavor!
- You can omit butter and use other alternative oils instead of olive oil if you don’t have any around. Extra virgin olive oil is the healthiest and best quality you could use, but avocado oil and grapeseed oil will also work very well for this recipe.
- Use fresh garlic if you can. Garlic powder is acceptable, but it doesn’t have fresh garlic’s depth of flavor, and its flavor isn’t quite as strong. You can use one tablespoon of garlic powder for each clove of garlic you would otherwise be using.
- Do your best not to overcook the chicken. It will lose all the moistness and tenderness that’s critical to this dish. You don’t want dry, rubbery chicken, do you?
How to Store
You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. That’s why this recipe is so great for meal prepping! You can make the bites up on Sunday afternoon and be eating chicken bites until Tuesday or Wednesday.

What To Serve With Honey Garlic Chicken
This is a truly versatile recipe you can customize your meal to suit your personal tastes. For a lean, clean dinner, you could try serving the chicken bites with brown rice and some steamed broccoli, or even with our quinoa salad. Cauliflower rice also makes for a great low-carb option.
If you’re looking to increase your carb count, try using potatoes. Boil them, mash them, stick them in a stew - you can use any type of potatoes with this one! We think roast potatoes, or baked potatoes, go best with these honey garlic chicken bites, but you are more than welcome to make up your own mind. For a trendy alternative, you could make some nice sweet potato wedges, or simply bake sweet potatoes to serve with the honey garlic chicken.
Pasta or zucchini noodles are another great option for this recipe. You could lean into the Asian-inspired flavor palate of this meal and serve with egg noodles, too, allowing the noodles to trap the sticky flavoring around the chicken bites.

Honey Garlic Chicken Bites
Ingredients
- 1.3 pounds 600 grams skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1 ½-inch pieces
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 garlic cloves finely minced
- ¼ teaspoon red chili flakes
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup low-sodium chicken stock
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons Sriracha sauce or any hot sauce, optional
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro leaves or parsley, for garnish
- Lemon slices as needed
Equipment
Instructions
- Add the chicken pieces, cornstarch, salt and pepper to a large bowl. Mix to evenly coat the chicken.
- In a large skillet heat olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter is melted, add the chicken and cook until golden brown, about 8 minutes ( 4 minutes per side). Transfer to a plate. You might need to cook the chicken pieces in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Make sure the chicken pieces are not touching each other and the heat can circulate around them. This will help to lock the moisture and you will get crisp and juicy chicken.
- In the same skillet cook the garlic and chili flakes until fragrant, about 30-40 seconds over medium heat.
- Add the honey, chicken stock, lemon juice, Sriracha sauce ( or any hot sauce) and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Cook until the sauce thickens into a shiny glaze, about 2 minutes.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and cook further for 2 minutes until the chicken is completely cooked through.
- Garnish with the chopped cilantro leaves and lemon slices.
- Serve immediately over steamed rice. Enjoy!
