I have been making homemade Alfredo Sauce for ages. It is my family’s favorite sauce for all kinds of pastas and shrimp dishes. It is the king of white sauces. You will need just 8 ingredients to make this delicious white sauce.

I don’t know about Italy, but I know for sure that Alfredo pasta is the most popular Italian pasta in America.
You won’t believe it, but this pasta (like many super famous dishes) was invented by accident by a Roman restaurateur. His wife gave birth to their first child. After the delivery she lost her appetite completely and refused to eat. Out of desperation he decided to cook something super tasty for her so that she could not refuse.
He prepared a rich pasta sauce out of butter, Parmesan cheese and cream. His wife was delighted and asked for more. Moreover, they included the new dish to the restaurant’s menu and their visitors loved it.
The fame of pasta Alfredo first spread throughout Rome and then spread all over the world. This paste became super popular in America, due to the huge number of emigrants from Italy.Nowadays, mushrooms, chicken, seafood can be added to Alfredo pasta – a huge number of variations of this Italian dish exists!
