Longhorn Parmesan Crusted Chicken
Longhorn Steakhouse is one of my favorite restaurants! I love their dishes, but Parmesan Crusted Chicken is my absolute favorite on their menu. Even though it looks very elegant and fancy, it is very easy and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. I highly recommend to add it to your cooking repertoire especially if you are ALL about that creamy and cheesy crust like me!
what you need to make Longhorn crusted chicken
- PARMESAN AND PROVOLONE CHEESE: Shred cheeses or cut into small pieces. Please don’t use pre-shredded cheese. Your food processor will do this job in seconds.
- RANCH DRESSING: Use a good quality ranch dressing. Homemade ranch dressing works the best!
- PANKO BREADCRUMBS: They produce crunchier and lighter coating because they have flakier consistency. Alternatively, you can use regular breadcrumbs if you don’t have panko. For keto Longhorn Parmesan Crusted Chicken, substitute breadcrumbs with almond flour, crushed nuts or keto bread crumbs.
- CHICKEN BREASTS: The recipe calls for boneless and skinless chicken breasts. Pound them before marinating.
How to Make Longhorn Parmesan Chicken
- Pound the chicken and marinate. Overnight marination provides the best results.
- Sear the chicken over medium-high heat.
- Spread the Parmesan-Provolone mixture over each breast.
- Top with the buttery panko crumbs.
- Broil for 4-5 minutes at 450 F ( 235 C).
HOW TO STORE LONGHORN PARMESAN CRUSTED CHICKEN
Transfer leftovers to an airtight container and refrigerate up to 4 days.
You can also make it ahead of time. Simply marinate chicken breasts overnight for a deeper flavor. Sear chicken the next day, allow to cool and refrigerate. Once ready to use, reheat in microwave and proceed with the cheese and panko topping as described in the recipe.
What goes with Longhorn parmesan crusted chicken?
Personally I like to serve it with mashed potatoes or scalloped potatoes. Options are endless.
For low-carb lovers, serve it with steamed broccoli, cheesy roasted asparagus, cauliflower rice or marinated mushrooms.

This Copycat Longhorn Parmesan Crusted Chicken tastes the same as the popular Parmesan Crusted Chicken from Longhorn Steakhouse. Pan seared chicken topped with a creamy Parmesan cheese crust and buttery panko crumbs. It is an easy, quick and delicious chicken recipe that everybody is going to love.
Ingredients
CHICKEN
- Chicken breasts ( pounded)- 4
- Salt- as needed
MARINADE
- Olive oil- ¼
- Ranch dressing-⅓ cup
- Worcestershire sauce- 3 tbsp.
- Lemon juice- 2 tbsp.
- Garlic ( minced)- 1 tbsp.
- Ground black pepper-¾ tsp.
PARMESAN CRUST
- Parmesan cheese ( cut into small pieces )- 1 cup
- Provolone cheese ( cut into small pieces)- 1 cup
- Ranch dressing- ⅓ cup
PANKO TOPPING
- Panko breadcrumbs- 1 cup
- Unsalted butter ( melted)- ⅓ cup
- Garlic powder- 2 tsp.
- Salt- ¼ tsp.
Instructions
CHICKEN
- In a large bowl whisk all the marinade ingredients (olive oil, ranch dressing, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic and black pepper). Keep aside.
- Pound each chicken breast and season with salt to you liking. Add the pounded chicken into the bowl with marinade, cover and marinate for 30 minutes or if time allows marinate overnight.
- In a large pan/ skillet heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Sear chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 12 minutes ( 6 minutes per side). Set aside.
PARMESAN CRUST
- Preheat your oven to 450 F ( 235 C) to a low broil.
- Combine Provolone cheese, Parmesan cheese and ranch dressing. Divide into four equal portions and spread on top of each chicken breast.
PANKO TOPPING
- In a small bowl mix together panko bread crumbs, melted butter, garlic powder and salt.
- Top the chicken with panko mixture generously.
- Bake in the preheated oven at 450 F ( 235 C) until cheese is melted and crumbs start to brown , about 5 minutes.
You can bake chicken instead of searing or cook this dish on the stove. Please refer to the recipe notes below.
Notes
- You can bake chicken breasts instead of searing. Preheat your oven to 450 F ( 235 C). Brush a skillet/ oven-safe dish with some vegetable oil, place chicken breasts and bake for 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 F / 75 C. Then, remove from the oven, spread the Parmesan crust and top with panko mixture. Broil for another 5 minutes or until cheese is melted and crumbs are browned to your liking.
- Making Longhorn Parmesan Crusted chicken on the stove. Sear the chicken until cooked through in the large skillet/ pan. Spread the Parmesan crust on each fillet, cover the skillet with the lid and cook until cheese is melted. In the meantime, toast the panko mixture over medium-high heat in a small pan, until crunchy and golden brown. Once the cheese is melted, top each fillet with toasted bread crumbs. Enjoy!
