โœ… You’ll Need

  • Pizza Crust: You can use a pre-made crust for convenience or make your own pizza dough for a homemade touch. Roll it out to your desired thickness.
  • Cream Cheese or Mascarpone: Both provide a creamy base for the toppings. Cream cheese adds a slight tang, while mascarpone offers a richer, milder flavor. Ensure it’s at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • Fresh Lemon Juice: You can use bottled lemon juice in a pinch.
  • Fresh Dill: If fresh dill isnโ€™t available, you can use dried dill, but reduce the amount to about 1 teaspoon.
  • Garlic: Using a microplane grater ensures itโ€™s finely minced and evenly distributed.
  • Salt and Pepper: Season to taste, but remember that smoked salmon and capers are already salty, so go easy on the salt.
  • Red Onion: Thinly slicing the red onion ensures it cooks through quickly and evenly. If you prefer a milder taste, you can soak the slices in cold water for 10 minutes before using.
  • Capers: These add a briny, tangy punch. Make sure they are well-drained to avoid excess moisture on your pizza.
  • Smoked Salmon: Choose high-quality smoked salmon for the best flavor. You can find it in the seafood section of most grocery stores.
  • Avocado: Thin slices add a creamy texture that pairs well with the smoked salmon. Add just before serving to prevent browning.
  • Baby Arugula (Rocket): Add it after baking to maintain its crispness.
  • Olive Oil: A light drizzle before serving adds a nice finish and helps bring all the flavors together. Use extra virgin olive oil for the best taste.

๐Ÿ”ช How to Make Smoked Salmon Pizza

Preheat your oven to 400ยฐF. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

In a small bowl, mix cream cheese (or mascarpone), lemon juice, dill, and garlic; season with salt and pepper.

Roll out your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness, then transfer it to a pizza stone or baking sheet.

Drizzle olive oil on the pizza base, spread the cream cheese mixture, and add onions and capers. Bake for 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and top with salmon, avocado slices, and arugula. Optionally, warm the avocado and salmon in the oven.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ Pro Tips

  • Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • Use fresh dill for the best flavor.
  • Drain capers well.
  • Add fresh toppings last to maintain their fresh texture.
  • Keep an eye on the pizza while baking to avoid overcooking the crust and toppings.

๐Ÿ—„๏ธ Storage and Reheating

  • To store leftover pizza, place the slices in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat, preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and place the pizza slices on a baking sheet. Heat for about 10 minutes, or until warmed through. You can also reheat it in an air fryer. Set it to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and heat the pizza for 2-3 minutes or until warmed through. Avoid using the microwave, as it can make the crust soggy.
