How To Cook Frozen Fish Sticks in Air Fryer

Like many frozen foods, fish sticks are much better air fried than by many other methods. Using the air fryer, the hot air circulating around the fish sticks means you donโ€™t need oil as you would to cook them in an oven or on the stovetop. With just a bit of lemon and maybe some tartar sauce youโ€™ve got yourself an easy, tasty dinner!

If you feel like bulking up your meal, a simple addition of some Air fryer Curly Fries will make a welcome addition to this awesome dish.

Follow our simple instructions and youโ€™ll have perfectly cooked golden brown fish sticks in air fryer every time.

No Oil Needed

Thatโ€™s right! You donโ€™t need to use an oil spray to coat your fish sticks. They will become crispy and delicious without the addition of any cooking oils. In fact, we advise that you donโ€™t do anything to your fish sticks at all. Simply remove them from the packaging and put your still-frozen sticks into the air fryer.

You donโ€™t need to let the sticks thaw out, either, as thawed fish sticks can turn mushy when cooked. The high heat and air circulation of your air fryer is more than enough to bring them to the right temperature.

Air Fryer Fish Sticks Tips

  • Different brands of frozen fish sticks will vary widely in both length and girth. Because of this, youโ€™ll want to adjust your cooking time for each one.
  • Larger, thicker sticks require more cooking time, whereas smaller, thinner ones need less time.
  • In addition to this, one air fryer differs from the next.
  • Let your first batch of fish sticks be a test run! After cooking your first round, pay attention to the fish sticks and whether they need more or less time in the air fryer. Once youโ€™ve done that, youโ€™ll have a clearer idea of how to perfectly cook fish sticks in your own air fryer.
  • Be sure to cook your fish sticks in a single layer with a bit of space between each stick and its neighbor. You need hot air circulating on all surfaces of the fish sticks, and a crowded air fryer basket will prevent even cooking.

Cooking Time and Heat

To start with, we recommend that you air fry your fish sticks at 400 F, or 200 C. Do this for four minutes, then flip the sticks over in the basket. Cook them for a further three or four minutes at the same temperature. Flipping the sticks allows the โ€œundersideโ€ to get nice and crispy as well by exposing it to the hot air in your fryer. This ought to be enough to cook all sides evenly and make sure your frozen fish sticks are cooked through.

If you prefer a crispier, crunchier fish stick, you can cook them for slightly longer.
