Instant Pot is perfect for making rice every time. I tried Brown Rice, Chicken Fried Rice, Fried Rice with Frozen Veggies. The results were fantastic!

Some people are skeptical about cooking rice in Instant Pot. They simply don’t believe that you can get that perfect rice cooker texture using Instant Pot. But once you try it and master how to cook rice in Instant Pot, it will be your absolute favorite method.

Moreover, this Instant Pot Jasmine rice tastes even better than what we order in Thai restaurants.

How to make jasmine rice in the Instant Pot?

Instant pot is a magic pot. You don’t need to watch the pot or stir the rice. Just soak and cook.

I will definitely advise to soak rice for 30-50 minutes before adding to the pot. Soaking will reduce the cooking time by 20 percent and you will get more flavorful and aromatic rice. Remember: the longer you cook your rice the less aromatic it will be. Wanna get popcorn-like aroma? Always soak your rice.

I also recommend to rinse jasmine rice before cooking. It will keep the rice from sticking together, foaming up and you will get perfectly separate grains.

To achieve a deeper flavor, use chicken or vegetable broth for soaking and boiling.

I advise to saute rice in ghee or butter in Instant Pot 1-2 minutes before adding the stock/ water and then pressure cook.

Ratio of water to rice for Instant Pot

The ratio is one to one (1:1), so if you plan to cook 2 cups of jasmine rice, you will need 2 cups of water/ broth.  For every 1 cup of rice, use 1 cup of water/ broth.

  • 1 cup of rice+ 1 cup of water.
  • 2 cups of rice+ 2 cups of water.
  • 3 cups of rice+ 3 cups of water.
  • 4 cups of rice+ 4 cups of water.
  • 5 cups of rice+ 5 cups of water.

Well this definitely looks like a handy item to have around the kitchen. My rice always comes out a bit overlooked, so hopefully this should balance things out easier for me and make things better for the whole family. 🙂

I always like to soak my rice before cooking because it cooks faster. It's good to know that it enhances good taste. I'm a great fan of rice.
