Why youโ€™ll love it

This is one of those low-effort, high-reward recipes thatโ€™s perfect for when you just canโ€™t spend an hour in the kitchen. Weโ€™re talking bold flavors from garlic, ginger, and soy sauce, plus a little sweet-and-savory magic from brown sugar and oyster sauce.

No fancy ingredients, no complicated stepsโ€”just a delicious ground beef dinner thatโ€™s kid-approved and picky-eater friendly.

Helpful Tips

  • Donโ€™t rush the browning process. Let the beef get a little crispy around the edges for extra texture and flavor.
  • Prep the sauce while the beef is cookingโ€”it comes together fast!
  • If you love extra sauce, feel free to double it. Itโ€™s so good over rice.

  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet until crispy.
  • Add scallions to the beef, then pour in the sauce.
  • Simmer until the sauce thickens and coats the meat.

Substitutions and variations

  • Swap beef for ground turkey or chicken if you want a lighter version.
  • Donโ€™t have oyster sauce? Hoisin sauce will work in a pinch.
  • Want it spicier? Add extra red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.
  • Try tossing in some steamed broccoli, snow peas, or bell peppers to make it a one-pan meal.

What to serve with it

We love it over white rice, but jasmine, brown rice, or even cauliflower rice work too. You could also serve it with:

  • Garlic noodles
  • A simple side salad with sesame dressing
  • Stir-fried bok choy or green beans

Leftovers and storage

Leftovers keep great! Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave until warmed through.
