Ingredient notes

  • Cream Cheese: Make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature. This will make it easier to blend and make a smoother dip.
  • Dill Pickles: Use your favorite brand of dill pickles. You can adjust the level of pickle flavor by choosing between sweet, sour, or spicy dill pickles. Chopping them finely ensures that you get a burst of pickle flavor in every bite.
  • Deli Ham: You can use any variety of deli ham you like, such as honey ham or smoked ham. Make sure to chop it into small pieces so that it mixes evenly in the dip.
  • Dry Ranch Seasoning: You can find dry ranch seasoning in the spice aisle of most grocery stores. It adds a tangy and herby flavor to the dip.
  • Dried Dill Weed: Dill weed provides additional dill flavor and a pleasant herbaceous note. If you prefer a stronger dill taste, you can add a little extra.
  • Garlic Powder: Garlic powder adds a subtle garlic flavor to the dip. Adjust the quantity to your taste, and you can use fresh minced garlic for a stronger garlic taste.
  • Green Onions: Green onions (also known as scallions) contribute a mild onion flavor and a pop of color. You can use both the green and white parts.
  • Chopped Pickles (for garnish): Extra chopped pickles for garnish add a nice visual touch and an extra burst of pickle flavor when serving.

How to Make Dill Pickle Dip with Ham

In a medium bowl, place the cream cheese, chopped dill pickles, diced ham, ranch seasoning, dill weed, garlic powder, and finely chopped green onions. Stir everything together until the mixture becomes creamy and well combined.

Garnish with fresh dill if you want.

Making Ahead

  • Make the dip according to the recipe.
  • Transfer it to an airtight container with a lid and seal tightly to prevent air from getting in and affecting the freshness of the dip.
  • Store the container in the refrigerator. You can store it for up to 2-3 days before serving.

Recipe Variations

  • Adjust Pickle Flavor: If you want a stronger pickle taste, add more chopped pickles or a splash of pickle juice. For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of pickles.
  • Chopped Jalapeños: For an extra layer of flavor and some heat, consider adding finely chopped pickled jalapeños.
  • Extra Creaminess: If you prefer an even creamier dip, mix in a couple of tablespoons of sour cream or Greek yogurt.
  • Serve with Variety: Besides crackers and chips, try serving the dip with pretzels, fresh cucumber slices, or toasted baguette rounds.

Storage

If you have any dip left, put it in a sealed container in the fridge. It’ll stay fresh for up to 4 days. And if you run out of crackers and potato chips, it’s yummy on burgers and sandwiches too.
