The first time I tried out this recipe was during my birthday party, it saved my day! It is the right mix of sour and sweet. Everyone loved the light and very refreshing drink. I really like the fact that it tastes better than the traditional lemonade. It is my perfect drink for summer when the heat won’t let me feel great. Nothing beats guzzling this precious fluid when the temperature increases. I simply take a few minutes out of my time to prepare this drink which helps to replenish water loss. I simply find it very irresistible.
This is one of the easiest recipes you will ever learn to make. For a citrus person like myself, I find this drink a blessing. The Watermelon Mint Lemonade does not require any special type of preparation to to adopt that taste that is all sweet and tart. Here is a break-down of the not-so-magic-potion!
I included some fresh mint leaves to make the drink more flavorful, this fuzzy drink is great for kids too. Watermelon contains about 90% and helps to keep us all hydrated while it supplies a decent dose of nutrients and antioxidants like Vitamin C and A. Outdoor enthusiasts can replace some lost vitamins and minerals with this isotonic drink. For this recipe, I used fresh watermelon and mint leaves. Mint leaves help with digestion and reduction of cholesterol, adding it to this beverage will be a win-win for you.
Watermelon Mint Lemonade is very low in calories, so you can drink non-stop without worrying if you are loading empty calories in your system. On the days when I feel like going a bit over the top, I take this refreshing drink into the league of adult beverages by adding rum or some champagne. However you choose to down this iced drink, always make sure you enjoy it. So zesty!
WATERMELON MINT LEMONADE
Ingredients
- Watermelon diced & seedless-6 cups
- Fresh mint- ½ cup
- Lemon juice- ¾ cup
- FOR THE SYRUP
- Honey-¾ cup
- Water- 1 cup
- FOR SERVING
- Ice cubes- as needed
- Lemon wedges- as needed
- Fresh mint leaves- as needed
Instructions
- Make syrup. In a medium saucepan combine water and honey; bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to lower and let the mixture simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Make the lemonade. In a blender or a food processor puree watermelon cubes, lemon juice and mint*.
- Add honey syrup and mix well.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Serve with ice cubes, lemon slices and fresh mint, if desired.
