STEAMED BROCCOLI

Ingredients

  • Broccoli- 800 gm/ 1.7 lbs
  • Salt - as needed
  • Ground black pepper/mixed peppercorns- as needed
  • FOR TOASTED GARLIC
  • Garlic cloves sliced-4-5
  • Vegetable oil- 2 tbsp.

Instructions

  • Wash the broccoli thoroughly, trim, peel and cut into spears.
  • Season with salt and pepper and arrange in a single layer in a steamer basket.
  • Fill a large pot with enough water to produce steam throughout the cooking time ( 5-7 cm/ 2-3 in). Bring to a boil, then place the steamer basket into the saucepan with boiling water, cover and steam the broccoli until tender, 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the broccoli from the steamer basket, adjust salt and pepper.
  • In a large pan, heat oil and saute garlic until lightly browned; add the steamed broccoli and toss until well combined and hot.
