- Broccoli- 800 gm/ 1.7 lbs
- Salt - as needed
- Ground black pepper/mixed peppercorns- as needed
- FOR TOASTED GARLIC
- Garlic cloves sliced-4-5
- Vegetable oil- 2 tbsp.
Wash the broccoli thoroughly, trim, peel and cut into spears.
Season with salt and pepper and arrange in a single layer in a steamer basket.
Fill a large pot with enough water to produce steam throughout the cooking time ( 5-7 cm/ 2-3 in). Bring to a boil, then place the steamer basket into the saucepan with boiling water, cover and steam the broccoli until tender, 5-7 minutes.
Remove the broccoli from the steamer basket, adjust salt and pepper.
In a large pan, heat oil and saute garlic until lightly browned; add the steamed broccoli and toss until well combined and hot.
