Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup 4 ounces unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives chopped
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 medium garlic cloves finely chopped (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Butter Mixture: Combine the softened butter, Dijon mustard, chives, thyme, parsley, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, pepper, cayenne, and red pepper flakes in a bowl or food processor. Mix until smooth (yields ~⅔ cup).
  • Compound Butter: Shape the mixture into a log using plastic wrap, seal tightly, and refrigerate until firm (2 hours or overnight).
  • Butter Dip: Melt in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If shaped into a compound butter log, keep it wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. For longer storage, freeze it for up to 3 months—simply slice off what you need and let it soften before use!
