- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup plain yogurt sour cream or buttermilk
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted, more for waffle iron
- 4 large eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk the yogurt, milk, melted butter, and eggs until well combined. Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just incorporated (avoid overmixing).
Preheat your waffle iron. Lightly grease it with butter using a pastry brush or paper towel. Pour about ½ cup of batter onto the waffle iron (adjust based on your iron's size) and cook until the waffles are golden and crisp. Reapply butter to the iron between batches as needed.
Serve the waffles immediately, or keep them warm in a 200°F oven until all batches are ready to serve. Enjoy with your favorite toppings!
To store, let them cool completely before placing them in an airtight container or zip-top bag. They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
For reheating, use a toaster or an oven at 350°F to bring back their crispiness—avoid microwaving, as it can make the waffles soggy. Frozen waffles can go straight into the toaster or oven for a quick and easy breakfast!
