Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blueberries or frozen
  • 2 medium lemons peeled and quartered
  • ½ small orange peeled
  • 2 inches fresh ginger root peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey raw preferred
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric optional
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup coconut water

Instructions

  • Blend everything: Add the blueberries, lemons, ginger, honey, turmeric (optional), black pepper, coconut water, and orange to a high-speed blender.
  • Blend until smooth: Blend on high until fully combined and smooth.
  • Strain (optional): For a smoother, shot-style texture, strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Skip this step if you prefer it thicker with fiber.
  • Pour into small glasses or bottles. Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 2–3 days.
  • This recipe yields about 3 cups total, depending on the juiciness of the fruit and whether you strain it. That’s roughly 10–14 small shots (2–3 oz each) or 5–6 servings if poured as a small drink.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen: Both work great—no need to thaw frozen blueberries before blending.
  • Adjust sweetness: Start with 1 tablespoon honey and add more to taste depending on how tart your lemons are.
  • Control the heat: Use less ginger for a milder shot or more for a stronger kick.
  • Strain or not: Straining gives a smooth, classic shot texture; skipping it keeps more fiber and makes it more filling.
  • Boost absorption: Black pepper helps your body absorb turmeric—don’t skip if using turmeric.
  • Storage: Keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2–3 days. Shake before serving.
