- 3/4 lb. ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon EACH: garlic powder onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1 small yellow onion diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 24 oz. marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 2 cups baby spinach
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese divided
- 20 oz. refrigerated ravioli uncooked. see notes
- Fresh basil leaves to garnish
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Add it to a large skillet on medium-high heat. Cook and break it apart for 3 minutes. Then, add the seasonings and onions. Cook for 5-6 more minutes. Next, add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute or until fragrant. Get rid of extra grease. Turn the heat down to low.
Spread 3/4 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish. Pour the remaining marinara sauce into the skillet with the meat. Add the half and half and spinach, and mix everything together. Cook for 2 minutes and then take the skillet off the heat.
Place half of the ravioli on the bottom of the casserole dish. Spread half of the meat sauce on top of the ravioli, then sprinkle with ½ cup of mozzarella cheese.
Layer the remaining ravioli on top, then spread the rest of the meat sauce over them, and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella on top.
Cover the dish and bake for 35 minutes. If using foil, spray one side with non-stick cooking spray to prevent it from sticking to the cheese during baking.
Remove the cover and broil at 450 degrees Fahrenheit to lightly brown the top. It will take just 1-2 minutes, so keep a close eye on it during this time.
Garnish with basil leaves.
Serve and enjoy!
