Description

Learn how to cut a tomato into perfect slices, wedges or dice for salads, burgers, soups or Mexican salsa with this easy tutorial.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ripe tomato

Instructions

  • Tomato slices: Place the tomato on its side . Slice off the top of the tomato ( to remove the stem) using a sharp knife. Then, cut the tomato into parallel slices from the top all the way down.
  • Diced tomatoes: Start with the sliced tomatoes and then cut them into thin stripsThen, hold the sides and cut crosswise.
  • Tomato wedges: Take off any stem that are still green. Using a large knife with a serrated edge, cut the tomato in half vertically, from the stem to the bottom. Then, cut in half from the stem to the bottom to make quarters. You can now make smaller wedges by cutting the quarters down the center through the stem.

Notes

Storage

You can store any cut tomatoes in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Simply place them in an airtight container. We recommend to place a paper towel at the bottom of your container if you plan to store tomato slices. It will absorb any extra moisture.
