Description

The internal temperature is a very reliable guide as to how well cooked your meat is. This works for steak, pork, lamb, chicken, and meatloaf.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (1 kg) 90 % lean ground beef
  • 1 packet Onion Soup Mix
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1/3 cup tomato passata
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt, to taste

The Meatloaf Glaze

  • 1/2 cup Marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F| 200°C. Spray a 9"x5" loaf pan with cooking oil spray or grease with oil.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the meatloaf and mix well. Mix with your hands until they are well combined.
  • Add the meat mixture to the loaf pan. Press and shape it into an even layer.
  • In a small bowl combine all the ingredients for the glaze. Pour half of the glaze over the meatloaf and spread with a spoon.
  • Bake uncovered for 55-60 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and brush with the remaining meatloaf sauce.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Don't overmix the meat mixture because it can result in a dense and tough  meatloaf.

Line the loaf pan with parchment paper for easy removal and clean up.

Press the meat mixture into pan, it will hold its shape better.
