This basil pesto is quick and versatile. Try this pesto in a variety of recipes like salads, mayo, pasta and more!


  • 1/2 cup toasted pine nuts
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4-1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, optional


  • Add the pine nuts, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper to your food processor. Pulse until chopped.
  • Add the basil and pulse until combined.
  • With the blade still running, drizzle in the olive oil and pulse until combined.
  • Add the Parmesan cheese, if using any and pulse just to combine.
